Metal by colour Rubellite and pink — rose or white gold. Green verdelite — yellow gold for warmth, white for contrast. Indicolite and Paraíba — white gold or platinum. Watermelon and bi-colour — neutral white gold.
Setting and protection 7–7.5 Mohs is mid-range for a ring. For daily wear use a bezel rather than high prongs; rubellite and Paraíba often have fissures, so they are set gently after a lab check; large cocktail stones sit slightly deeper.
